We offer low-cost and no-cost spay and neuter programs to encourage families to get their pets fixed. A fixed pet is healthier, happier, and helps to reduce the number of pets going into shelters (and the number of pets euthanized in shelters!). Duval Cat Fix
This program is funded by The City of Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services and covers up to 6 free spay/neuter surgeries per household for FERAL/community cats per month.
AVAILABLE ONLY AT NORWOOD LOCATION – Directions
- No appointment is required for feral cat surgery- we are open 6 days a week. Feral Intake times are (Monday- Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Saturday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Sunday, Closed)
- All feral cats must come in a humane trap
- For people caring for community cats outside of Duval County, the fee is $48 per cat.
- Cats must be in a humane trap. A limited number of traps are available for rent with a $100 refundable deposit. NO Squirrel traps please.

- You must bring proof of residence and Valid ID to the appointment when you drop off
- Feral cats can take up to 72 hours to process due to our large intake and volume
- All feral cats will get rabies and FVRCP vaccines and their ear will be tipped
- $22 City License required for pet cats
- The program covers up to 6 free spay/neuter surgeries per household for PET or FERAL/community cats per month.

Feral Freedom
When the Feral Freedom program was introduced in 2008, it was the first public-private collaboration in the nation to save all feral, stray, and community cats that entered the city’s shelters.
To date, the Feral Freedom program in Jacksonville has saved approximately 50,000 cats from being euthanized at the city shelter, but the impact doesn’t stop there. FCNMHP also mentors other organizations on how to start similar programs. As more and more communities adopt the model, hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved across the country as a result.
