Pit Sisters Adopts TAILS

First Coast No More Homeless Pets was able to build TAILS into a very successful program that not only saves the lives of dogs, but also changes the lives of the inmates working with the dogs. A training manual for TAILS has been created and this wonderful program has grown. It has expanded and is now at a point where a focus needs to be placed on getting these wonderful dogs adopted after they graduate. As we are not a shelter, this has not been a focus of ours, so we looked to other groups to operate the program.

We are pleased to announce that TAILS will now be operated by Pit Sisters and the Lake City Humane Society. Pit Sisters will continue to call the program TAILS and Lake City Humane Society will call theirs Rock Hounds (what Union County calls the program currently).

Pit Sisters is a very well-respected volunteer operation that finds foster and permanent homes for hard-to adopt dogs.  They also provide training for dog owners and their dogs, which is, of course, an essential component of TAILS. Pit Sisters will be operating the program at MCC, Lawtey and Baker.
